Are you a people person who loves to coach and teach 1:1? Do you have a passion to help people learn new things so they can live up to their personal potential?  

As an Integrated Living instructor, you will teach daily living skills, health and safety, social and vocational skills, and provide educational and recreational support for the residents and their community at 1585 Studio Apartments in Mountain View, a community designed for adults with developmental disabilities.

Job Duties:
Teach functional skills (community living, social/recreational, motor, communication)
Teach participants kitchen safety while learning to utilize kitchen equipment, good nutritional habits and related skills; teach meal preparation, meal and menu planning, sanitary and safe food storage practices 
Teach apartment maintenance skills, laundry skills, use of cleaning products and equipment, maintaining a clean, neat living environment
Teach personal hygiene and grooming skills
Teach problem-solving and relationship-building skills, and appropriate social behaviors
Transport program participants to and from their apartments utilizing public transportation and/or personal vehicle
Plan and conduct daily classes/activities and community volunteer outings with the participants
Be able to work with participants one-on-one or in a group of three
Be able to transport participants one-on-one or in a group of three
 Guide individuals in accomplishing their ISP objectives by demonstrating effective instruction techniques and positive reinforcement
Act as a representative of the agency in furthering its objectives and advocating for improvements in the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities
Develop relationships with program participants that are respectful, based on mutual trust, and that maintain professional boundaries
Have availability on some evenings and weekends

Education: High School degree required; BA/BS in psychology or related field preferred.
Experience: 1 3 years working with people with developmental disabilities.
Substitution: Combination of equivalent experience and education may be substituted for degree.
Certification: Standard 1st Aid with Adult, Child and Infant CPR

Other: Communicate clearly & effectively, verbally & in writing; project a professional & positive image at all times. Valid driver's license and clean DMV Record. If driving private automobile on Abilities United business, must have valid automobile insurance and car registration on file with Human Resources. Demonstrate reliability and dependability; ability to follow directions and work independently. Perform all duties of the position in accordance with Abilities United mission, values and philosophy.
